I huddled in the pack to ease the pain
Now I’m going off that med on a crazy train
I thought we we were hunting where no kin had ever roamed
But we were really stacking cards into a broken home
I used to see a place where I belonged
But only ever visible in the fog
It feels like a change of seasons,
With a wiser vision I’m seeing it a whole lot clearer
And there’s nothing here for me.
I was nearly starving, a farmer without a farm
Looking to prove myself, I only wanted to work real hard
I went to the fair grounds, to see about a job
They put me on commission and then I realized there was no sign anyone had ever been around
I used to see a place where I belonged
It was only ever visible in the fog
And it feels like a change of seasons,
When the promise breaks into wayward little pieces
And there’s nothing left for me.
